THE ROLE
The Senior Grower role is key to the delivery of our vision and you will be a pivotal member of the Cannasouth Cultivation Lead team. You will be reporting to senior leaders and will be responsible for coordinating and leading the day to day cultivation operations from propagation to harvest. Following directions from our cultivation partners Vera Cultivation based in the USA you will be responsible for implementing cultivation plans, assigning duties, monitoring plant health, and overseeing all tasks related to the growing process. You will need to successfully coordinate all production schedules, monitor the production budget, and ensure issues are identified and flagged accordingly.
The key to success in this role is deliver high end medicinal cannabis products that meet our production plans, quality standards along with leading a group of highly engaged on the ground production workers. You are not required to have any knowledge of cannabis cultivation as training in this area will be provided by our cultivation partners.
Your willingness to learn will be essential as the cultivation facility is one of a kind in New Zealand, designed specifically for cultivating pharmaceutical quality cannabis. The facility incorporates many industry leading design features that will ensure it is the gold standard for cannabis cultivation here in New Zealand.
This will be a hands-on role requiring participation in all production activities with the rest of the team.
THE PERSON
Our ideal candidate will be a horticultural extraordinaire. You will have a diploma or degree in horticulture (or equivalent years of experience). You will also have 3+ years’ experience in high quality greenhouse production environments operating under GAP/GACP standards.
More information about you:
A strong understanding of GAP/GACP quality standards
Experience writing and implementing operational SOP’s
Greenhouse operational experience including in depth knowledge of hydroponics and greenhouse irrigation/fertigation systems, climate automation systems, propagation, and plant management
Extensive knowledge of IPM strategies in the New Zealand environment
Prior production management or co-ordination experience
2+ years supervisory experience, preferable
