The workshop will cover the drivers for growers to shift to decarbonised energy sources, an introduction to geoheat, including where this is currently available alongside developed geothermal assets and plans to explore wider availability throughout New Zealand. The economics of geoheat will be discussed, and potential sources of project and capital funding to support growers making the switch will also be covered. A full workshop agenda will be made available shortly. The workshop is free to attend.

Young Grower of the Year is an annual competition run by Horticulture New Zealand to select the finest young grower in the country. Young fruit and vegetable growers from around the sector compete in regional competitions throughout the year, with the winners from each of the six regional events vying for the grant title at the National Final. ​ The six regional competitions - Pukekohe, Bay of Plenty, Gisborne, Hawke's Bay, Nelson and Central Otago - are run independently of the National Final. Separate sponsorship packages for each region are managed by and available through the regional event coordinators. Visit the Regional Events pages for contact details. ​ The winner of the National Final has the opportunity to compete in the Young Horticulturist of the Year competition, run by the Royal New Zealand Institute of Horticulture Education Trust. ​

Three conference programmes – the Horticulture Industry conference, the New Zealand Apples and Pears Inc (NZAPI) conference and the Recognised Seasonal Employer (RSE) scheme conference – will merge into one to form one week of industry-centric presentations, speakers and content. The theme of this year's Horticulture Industry conference is Sharing Successes to Strengthen our Future. Registrations are now live. Earlybird registrations are available until 26 May.
