MG Group partners with The Gut Foundation
Growing a healthier New Zealand together

We are proud to announce that the MG Group has become a Platinum Partner of The Gut Foundation.

This partnership represents a shared commitment to the health of our communities as there is a natural synergy between the fresh fruit and vegetables our growers produce and the important work of The Gut Foundation.

The link between gut health and a diet rich in fresh fruit and vegetables is undeniable. While the MG Group ensures everyday Kiwis have access to fresh produce, The Gut Foundation provides the education, research and advocacy to explain why it matters. Through direct programmes of work and their partnership with health and community organisations, they help people understand why diet, including fresh, healthy produce is a key driver for long-term wellbeing.

“At the MG Group, our whole-of-organisation approach is ‘Together Stronger’ and this partnership reflects that,” says MG Group CEO, Peter Hendry. “Teaming up with The Gut Foundation, helps us amplify the message that fresh, healthy produce supports a healthy life.”

“We are proud to enter into this partnership on behalf of our staff and growers, whose collective hard work helps provide access to the fresh healthy produce the Foundation is working to promote.”

The partnership supports the broad work and initiatives of The Gut Foundation, while a key part of our partnership will specifically focus on creating educational content for primary and secondary schools. By encouraging healthy eating habits early, we are helping to drive generational change.

“We are incredibly grateful to have the MG Group join us as a Platinum Partner,” says The Gut Foundation CEO, Alice Fitzgerald. “There is a powerful alignment between our mission to improve health outcomes and MG’s role in the fresh produce industry.”

“Their support will allow us to deliver vital gut-health education to schools and empower the next generation to make healthier choices for life.

We look forward to sharing more updates as this partnership develops and our joint educational initiatives take root in schools across the country.

Protected Cropping, Weather Extremes And Growth Potential
Extreme weather again highlights the role of protected cropping. During last week’s deluge across the North Island, significant damage is expected across many outdoor crops. Onions lying on the ground and attempting to dry will be particularly vulnerable, with prolonged saturation likely to result in quality losses and storage issues.
