IFPA Produce Executive Program – The Program Building NZ’s Next Generation of Produce Leaders

IFPA Produce Executive Program – The Program Building NZ’s Next Generation of Produce Leaders
The program delivery is supported by senior leaders in the NZ produce industry along with international experts.

In a time of rapid change and challenges – geopolitical tensions, supply chain stress driven by increased fuel costs, and the accelerating pace of AI – the importance of human connection and collaboration has never been more significant.

As uncertainty rises, the opportunity to step away from the day to day, develop new ideas and build business skills and relationships with people facing the same challenges is increasingly impactful and valuable.

For 25 years, the IFPA Produce Executive Program has been held annually in Australia with strong participation from New Zealand businesses. Last year the program was held in New Zealand for the first time, designed specifically around the evolving needs and opportunities of the NZ fresh produce industry.

A fantastic group of participants wholeheartedly embraced the chance to learn, connect, and grow together, with the success of the program ensuring its return this August.

The program delivery is supported by senior leaders in the NZ produce industry along with international experts.

Speakers include: Program Director and Management Consultant Tristan Kitchener, Emeritus Professor of Food Marketing Professor David Hughes, Horticulture NZ Chief Executive Kate Scott, Woolworths Fruit and Vegetables General Manager Ryan McMullen, Director of AI Lab at KPMG Australia Lachlan Hardisty, Managing Director of NZ Hothouse Simon Watson, CEO of AS Wilcox & Sons Akash Varma, IFPA Strategy & Engagement Advisor Verena Cunningham, JapanIQ Consultant Paul Kraft, and Forward Insight and Strategy Global Consumer Insights Director Carlo Magni.

Across the week participants explore leadership and motivation, problem solving and innovation, collaborative negotiation, AI in practice, public speaking, personal resilience, global food and grocery retail trends, industry priorities and opportunities, and sustainability.

The program is about developing people as much as capability – collaboration and connection are at the heart of the course, helping future leaders return to their businesses with renewed purpose and perspective. One participant shared, ‘I was challenged in ways I haven’t been for years and put in situations I didn’t think I’d experience again. I met the most incredible people who I hope will become lifelong friends.’

It’s a powerful reminder that the human element in business remains deeply valuable and irreplaceable.
