In this online training (English spoken) you will learn about the chemical aspects of nutrients and fertigation, how to read an analysis, and how to make adjustments to the fertilizer recipe. Calculation of your own A and B tank filling from a recipe. The uptake of water and nutrients by the plant and the relationship with pH and EC.

Fertigation in Horticulture (English spoken)

• Duration: 6 online lectures of 1.5 hours each
• Target audience: Growers or those active in the horticultural industry
• Prior education: Basic chemistry or training “Introduction in Fertigation”; some experience in cultivation is preferred
• Entrance test: No entrance test
• Language: English
• Investment: €795 p.p. excl. VAT and administration costs, to be paid in advance

For whom?

For anybody who would like to learn more about fertigation in horticulture. This expert training is intended for everyone with some experience in horticulture or preliminary education in chemistry, or the online training Introduction to Basics of Fertigation in Horticulture.

Content

In this online training you will learn about the chemical aspects of nutrients and fertigation, how to read an analysis, and how to make adjustments to the fertilizer recipe. Calculation of your own A and B tank filling from a recipe. The uptake of water and nutrients by the plant and the relationship with pH and EC.

This training is given in English. We also offer this training in Dutch on other dates.

“Nitrogen can be offered in two ways, as nitrate or ammonium. The plant has a strong preference for ammonium. However, with excessive ammonium application, the pH can drop too much, which can result in dieback damage to the roots. This directly leads to loss of yield.”

▪ Know what main and trace elements are and their function
▪ Can recognise a deficiency
▪ Can explain the relevance of pH and EC, why pH is important, and how to influence them
▪ Will understand the principles of fertigation, helping you develop your work in horticulture
▪ Will receive a certificate of participation after the training

How does it work?

This training is delivered online by a senior teacher. Participants are expected to take an active role—joining discussions, answering questions, and completing some homework such as calculations from recipe to A & B tanks.
