First Time Golfer Janine Grul from Lefroy Valley wins

First Time Golfer Janine Grul from Lefroy Valley wins
Closest to the pin

The Grower2Grower golf day was a tremendous success. As part of the day’s competition, there was a longest drive competition for Men and Women and a closest to the pin that was open.

Considering that there were golfers playing with handicaps as low as 4 and many with under 20 or less – the closest to the pin was won by Janine Grul, Technical Sales & Administrative Manager from Lefroy Valley. This was the first time Janine had played Golf – some may call it a lucky shot but, in my experience, there is no way this was a lucky shot.

This happened to be the penultimate hole for Team Lefroy. During the day, I had heard that Janine, with the help of team member Barry Gray, had watched and listened to the tips from Barry. I was informed Janine’s ball striking was improving throughout the round.

Even though the day was about bringing the growing community together and raising money for the Cancer Society – there was still a competitive element to the golf competition. This was certainly, in terms of the golf the number one shot of the day and it is especially impressive from a first-time golfer – well done Janine.

How to reduce heat from your structures during the warmer months. High temperatures can dramatically affect a strawberry plant’s ability to set fruit and maintain fruit size. The longer you can reduce the negative impact of heat stress, the longer you can sustain consistent production, quality, and shelf life.
