Grower2Grower reaches 5th year of publications
Supporting growers is our priority. There has never been a more crucial time to support our industry as growers face numerous challenges.

February marked the fifth anniversary of the first publication of the Grower2Grower E-magazine. Our small team of two has now posted one hundred and thirty-two publications in total.  We would like to acknowledge and thank the growers and businesses that continue to support Grower2Grower.

This year growers and suppliers face a continuation of the challenges faced in 2022. In 2023 we will continue to publish technical articles, highlight new systems, technology, schemes, news and events to keep the New Zealand protected cropping sector informed.

In five years, there has been over 100,000 individual sessions and nearly 10,000 returning visitors.   The Grower2Grower target audience has always been growers, suppliers and students.  We have also had a lot of international users with the most from Australia the Netherlands, Canada, United Kingdom and India.

Marie and I are especially proud of raising nearly $ 3,000 for the Cancer Society last year with the inaugural Grower2Grower Golf tournament.  This event is locked into our calendar for 2023 and with the support of both growers and suppliers we hope to see you all again later this year.

Protected Cropping, Weather Extremes And Growth Potential
Extreme weather again highlights the role of protected cropping. During last week’s deluge across the North Island, significant damage is expected across many outdoor crops. Onions lying on the ground and attempting to dry will be particularly vulnerable, with prolonged saturation likely to result in quality losses and storage issues.
