National Policy Statement for Highly Productive Land
Potential unintended consequences to protected cropping industry from new policy
It was brought to the attention of Grower2Grower this week that the National Policy Statement (NPS) for Highly Productive Land 2022 may have unintended consequences for new greenhouse/protected cropping builds on Rural Zoned Land that contains class 1-3 soils unless the topsoil is used.

Extreme weather again highlights the role of protected cropping. During last week’s deluge across the North Island, significant damage is expected across many outdoor crops.
