Project Spotlight: A Smarter Future for Botanica Nurseries

Project Spotlight: A Smarter Future for Botanica Nurseries
In the heart of Silverdale, NSW, something exciting is growing

In the heart of Silverdale, NSW, something exciting is growing—not just plants, but the future of greenhouse automation. Botanica Nurseries, one of New South Wales’ premier wholesale growers, recently took a bold step toward smarter cultivation.

Meet the Growers

Botanica Nurseries – led by David Hanna – is known for supplying beautifully cultivated plants to professional landscapers, councils, and commercial projects across the region. With an eye on quality, consistency, and innovation, the team is constantly refining their approach to plant production.

The Vision

With their operations expanding, Botanica was looking to gain tighter control over their growing environment while reducing manual workload. Their goal was clear: create an environment where every plant can thrive -with less hands-on intervention.

The Powerplants Partnership

Enter the team at Powerplants. Collaborating closely with Botanica, we helped deliver a solution designed for high-efficiency, precision growing. At the heart of this transformation was a Priva Compass climate control system – connected to roof and wall vents, climate screens, and more, all within a new Redpath greenhouse. This isn’t just technology for the sake of it -it’s smart growing, made simpler.

This isn’t just technology for the sake of it -it’s smart growing, made simpler.

What Changed:

Since commissioning the system, Botanica has seen immediate benefits:

  • Consistent growing conditions through automated, real-time adjustments
  • Stronger plant health and uniformity, with fewer losses
  • Reduced manual input, freeing up time for other priorities
  • Remote monitoring, offering peace of mind at any hour

In Their Words

“The new system has taken much of the guesswork out of managing our environment, and we’re already seeing the benefits. It provides consistency and peace of mind.”
– David Hanna, Owner – Botanica Nurseries

Why It Worked

Botanica trusted Powerplants not just for the technology, but for our ability to tailor solutions that actually fit. From the early design stages through to handover, our local team stayed involved, ensuring everything was aligned to their needs – and ready to support their growth into the future.

Looking Ahead

This project is more than just an upgrade -it reflects a broader shift across the nursery industry. Growers like Botanica are embracing smart automation to boost efficiency, improve plant quality, and ensure long-term success in an evolving market.

At Powerplants, we’re proud to support that journey.
