World renowned greenhouse crop specialist Frank Florus to present at a workshop held in South Auckland.

TomatoesNZ Business Manager, Dinah Cohen, at short notice, has secured this excellent opportunity for growers.  I highly recommend greenhouse growers, from all of New Zealand, take the chance to attend this presentation by Frank Florus.

Short Bio:

  • Frank Florus from Lycopersicon, Belgium
  • Frank is a crop specialist with extensive knowledge of tomatoes but also with experience of other Solanaceae greenhouse crops. From his time spent teaching and consulting, Frank brings his vast experience of almost 40 years in the industry to New Zealand in early December.

Frank is a crop specialist with extensive knowledge of tomatoes but also with experience of other Solanaceae greenhouse crops. Frank began his horticultural work at the research centre of Hoogstraten in Germany in 1984. Following that, he taught horticulture to young adults at Thomas More University in Geel, Belgium. During this time, he also started consulting to growers through the university’s advisory service, specialising in tomato plants.

After 4 years of teaching and consulting, Frank moved to Rockwool / Grodan to focus on consulting under the brand ‘Subtratus’. He remained with this company for 11 years, before making the move to form his own consulting company with 3 colleagues. The business partners have changed over the time but together they have been visiting growers in both Belgium and the Netherlands to advise on all aspects of the greenhouse growing business since 1999.

TomatoesNZ invites all growers to a workshop which will cover climate control, irrigation to pests and diseases, investments and labour.

  • SAVE THE DATE 6th December 2023, late afternoon, South Auckland. Time and venue to be confirmed.
  • Frank is also available for private consultations from 4th to 8th December.
