TomatoesNZ fact finding mission report

TomatoesNZ fact finding mission report
European Tour of Learning

In February 2025, a group of 6 people representing the NZ covered crop industry, travelled to Europe to embark on a fact finding mission that included attending Fruit Logistica in Berlin and a series of meetings with suppliers around the Netherlands.

The reasons for this trip were board but can be summarised as aiming to better understand what is new in the greenhouse industry in Europe so that we could share these learnings with NZ growers.

Topic areas of conversation included:

  • Tomato Brown Rugose Fruit Virus (ToBRFV) including resistant varieties
  • Hygiene
  • Energy
  • Robotics
  • Biologicals

These areas and more are covered in the report of learnings that can be found below.
