Autumn and Winter are not far away, and energy will again be a hot topic/cost for growers.
Energy reduction funding applications are still available.   EECA Tech Demonstration Fund may provide you with a subsidy opportunity.

The programme is open to operating businesses who want to undertake a project to:

»     Install energy efficient and/or renewable energy and/or decarbonisation technologies that are proven; or

»     Implement an innovative energy efficiency, renewable energy or decarbonisation process improvement opportunity themselves.

If approved, we will co-fund up to 50 % of the project costs, to a maximum of:

»     $250,000 for non-process heat related projects; or

»     $500,000 for process heat related decarbonisation projects.

To qualify for funding, your project must:

»     Reduce energy intensity and/or greenhouse gas emissions in an actual operating environment;

»     Be applicable to multiple businesses in a sector; and

»     Be financially viable, with a reasonable payback period.

In addition, you must meet the following requirements:

»     All applicants must be legal entities registered in New Zealand;

»     For technology related projects the technology must be commercially available;

»     For innovative processes projects, any process change must be proven;

»     You will commit to having your project independently monitored and outcomes verified; and

»     You will collaborate with EECA to promote the project and outcomes.

Projects must meet minimum cost-effectiveness requirements for energy benefits and carbon reductions.  We will not consider projects that have already started or would happen anyway.  We will also not fund projects involving the following:

»     Heat pumps < 10 kW

»     Residential products

»     Standard commercial lighting, including LED’s and office products

»     Solar hot water and photovoltaic panels

»     Electric light passenger vehicles (specialist electric vehicles may be considered)

»     Wind, hydro, geothermal, solar, biomass and marine electricity generation

»     Technology and processes under research and development

»     Technology suppliers wanting to demonstrate a technology in a test environment.
