Attention: gas-using businesses

Attention: gas-using businesses
On behalf of Energy Efficiency & Conservation Authority (EECA), we would like to invite you to a workshop to discuss challenges and opportunities for business reticulated gas users.

The aim of the workshop is to cut through a noisy market to support businesses, particularly medium- to small-sized reticulated gas users, with the changing energy supply picture. We will:

  • shed light on the fast moving gas market
  • identify practical opportunities for businesses to optimise energy use in the short, medium and long term.
  • include a mix of focused presentations to provide context and the latest insights, a round table session to understand what is being experienced on the ground, and a panel discussion to hear from businesses about early successes.

We are also developing immediate opportunities to support the market directly; starting with an Energy Options Walkthrough, which you will have a first look at.

 Workshop details:

  • When: Wednesday 30th July 2025
  • Where: Ruakura Convention Centre, Waikato Innovation Park, SkyPoint Building, 3 Melody Lane Hamilton East 3216 (there is plenty of parking)
  • Time: 9.30am – 12 noon (refreshments to be provided, please provide any dietary requirements in your RSVP)

 RSVP

Please RSVP by Wednesday, 23rd July by filling in the link below.

Reticulated Gas Users – Workshop Registration

Please note: If you cannot make it, please still RSVP, as the form has options to indicate future events that you would like to see, including additional locations and the opportunity for some more in-depth technical options webinars.

It also has a short questionnaire to help us understand your needs up front to deliver an effective, valuable workshop.

We look forward to seeing you on July 30th in Hamilton.

Ground-Source Heating: Lessons from a Leading UK Greenhouse Operation
An in-depth look at the ground-source heat pump system heating Stewarts Garden Centre in England and the opportunities this technology may offer commercial greenhouse growers in New Zealand. "Energy costs in the UK are currently extremely high compared with New Zealand. During discussions on site, electricity pricing was described as sitting around 22 pence per kWh, which converts to approximately NZ$0.50 per kWh. Considering those energy prices, the efficiency of the heating system was particularly impressive".
