Congratulations to Centuria for Winning the 5th Grower2Grower Golf Day

The Grower2Grower Golf Day was held on 11 September at Pukekohe Golf Club, and once again it was a huge success thanks to the incredible support of our sponsors, including our major sponsor, Horticentre.

A big congratulations to all 22 teams and the support staff who helped make the day such a success.

The weather was kind to us. It wasn’t the warmest day, but thankfully the rain stayed away. There was certainly some interesting golf played, but more importantly, there was plenty of fun and laughter along the way.

Players kicked off the day with a hearty breakfast of bacon and egg muffins, along with hot and cold drinks to get everyone ready for the day ahead. A big thank you to Yara NZ for sponsoring breakfast.

Out on the course, golfers were kept refreshed by two drinks carts, kindly sponsored by Apex Greenhouses.

Plenty of Fun Around the Course

The side games were, as usual, a big hit.

Gellert Nurseries ran the popular Balls in the Pants game—and thankfully, their tent stayed firmly on the ground this year!

There was also a Guess the Seeds in the Jar competition from Lefroy, and a Guess the Clips on the Rope challenge from Extrutec.

A big well done to Elyse and Hillary from South Pacific Seeds for their fantastic dress-up photo booth. Meanwhile, Richard and Stephen from RTF Climate (Powerplants) kept everyone entertained—and perhaps put a few golfers off their game—as they teed off from the 9th.

On-course highlights included Jo Woolley, who claimed both the Ladies’ Longest Drive and Closest to the Pin, an impressive double.

Her closest-to-the-pin shot was an especially good effort considering the wind on the 11th hole.

Thanks also to Joe and Theunie from Extrutec for manning the virtual hole and running their Clips on a Rope guessing game.

The Competition

When it came to the serious business of the tournament, The Dividend Drivers from Centuria secured this year’s title. Congratulations to the team!

Second place went to Holed My Balls from Gellert Nurseries, while The Bandits from Educhem rounded out the top three.

The Bandits continued their remarkable consistency, making the podium for the fifth consecutive year. Five years and five podium finishes is quite an effort!

There was also a three-way “Battle of the Banks”, with ASB edging out ANZ and BNZ.

Although Jono Keen from ANZ did claim the Longest Drive—and is reportedly said to have done it “in the best interests of golfers!”

A Huge Thank You

A special thank you goes to Molly Green from BASF for her amazing help throughout the day, taking photos and, once again, providing her home baking. Her two chocolate cakes were absolutely devoured after the prizegiving dinner!
