Philips GreenPower LED Solutions enables Add One Farm to increase yield and stabilize winter production

Philips GreenPower LED Solutions enables Add One Farm to increase yield and stabilize winter production
“Crop cycles during the winter shortened from 88 days to 62 days, and the number of annual harvests rose from 11 to 15.”

Eindhoven, the Netherlands Signify (Euronext: LIGHT) has supplied Add One Farm Co., Ltd. in Hokkaido, Japan, with new Philips GreenPower LED toplighting compact and a Philips GrowWise control system to help them overcome the challenge of maintaining stable yields during the cold season. Add One Farm, a pioneer in hydroponic cultivation, struggled with limited sunlight in winter, which threatened shipment volumes and shelf space in “Nana’s Salad Garden” sections of department stores and supermarkets.

The solution was to install Philips GreenPower LED toplighting compact across the newly built 1.5-hectare MGS Greenhouse in Okadama, supported by the GrowWise control system. This allows precise control of light intensity and spectrum via computer to create a uniform growing environment and maximize efficiency. “What convinced us to install Philips LED was their extensive track record on large-scale farms overseas and the success stories in Japan. With GrowWise control, we can fine-tune the growing environment, and the results have been excellent,” says Toshiki Yamaguchi, Managing Director at Add One Farm.

By choosing a full-LED solution, Add One Farm has already seen strong results. Crop cycles during the winter shortened from 88 days to 62 days, and the number of annual harvests rose from 11 to 15. Improved light uniformity has resulted in higher yields with excellent color, taste, and nutritional value. “The Philips horticulture team didn’t just provide us with products and manage the installation; they also offered extensive support from plant specialists and application engineers. Stable increases in production will help us build greater trust with our clients and lead to market expansion,” Yamaguchi explains.

With the Philips GreenPower LED solution and ongoing expert support, Add One Farm is now equipped to secure consistent production, strengthen its market position, and deliver high-quality produce that customers can rely on all year round.
